Melitta "cup" type filters allow the water to pool in the cup so as to take a good 5 minutes after brewing to stop dripping. This causes a drip cleanup on the base when you pour.
This unit was never meant for anything but coffee pouches. 4 times out of 5, the weight of the wet coffee grinds #2 cone paper filters result in a collapsed cone and spilled grinds.
I now use only the costlier round Maxwell House 2-4 cup brew pouches. These fit perfectly and the coffee brews correctly. I'm looking for refillable round pouches. Not found any.
The simple "blend into the counter top" design (important to some), ease of use, and great tasting coffee is why I don't regret buying this Hotel/Motel type coffee maker. I strongly recommend ppl use round type coffee pouches. My coffee costs more (per cup) to brew this way, but I like the convenience factor.
